ANIMAL CARE TECHNICIAN
Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society is seeking a self-motivated, multi-tasking individual to join our team. If you love animals and people, this may just be the job for you!

The primary functions of this position are to provide quality care to our animals, assist the public and maintain the cleanliness of the shelter.
We are currently hiring for a full-time and part-time position. The exact days are TBD.

Basic Responsibilities Include:

· Daily cleaning of assigned area (dog kennels, cat rooms or intake area)
· Feeding animals
· Medicating and treating animals, as needed
· Providing customer assistance in person, on the phone, and in email correspondences
· Introducing animals to visitors, and making recommendations on possible adoptions
· Providing animals with enrichment and training
· Documenting health of animals and reporting abnormalities and concerns as instructed
· Processing surrender and stray requests
· Assisting with intake of new animals
· Processing adoption applications
· Performing other duties as assigned
· Replenishing area supplies
· Maintaining cleanliness of facility and property

Minimum Qualifications Required:

· Ideal candidates will possess basic knowledge of animal behavior and will have experience in an animal shelter or similar environment.
· Must be able to lift 50 lbs. unaided
· Must be interested in animal sheltering and welfare
· Must be reliable and detail oriented
· Must be 18 years or older
· Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from work

PROGRAMS & MARKETING MANAGER

The manager is responsible for the following programs:

– Community Outreach
– Volunteers, including Foster Care Volunteers
– Social Media & Website
– Special Events

Essential Functions:

  • Plans, coordinates and implements the above programs
  • Recruits, trains and schedules volunteers to assist the daily shelter operations with input from the Shelter Manager.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of each program through feedback from staff, volunteers, partner organizations, shelter data and with measurable performance measures.
  • Provides administrative support, as needed
  • Maintains records and logs and prepares reports for above programs.
  • Creates and maintains social media content and e-newsletter and updates LMHS website.
  • Creates marketing materials for community outreach and special events.
  • Plans and implements special events and education programs, on and off-site.
  • Manages foster care program by placing orphaned, pregnant, newborn, injured, ill, and under-socialized animals into private homes for temporary housing, including on an emergent basis. Maintains and updates foster care materials.
  • Develops and implements community education outreach programs including animal behavior training, Kids Camp, shelter tours and after-adoption support.
  • Respond to public inquiries and resolve situations that may arise from the above programs.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with community members, non-profit animal rescue groups, local animal control agencies, youth and adult programs and other organizations to benefit the shelter and the community.
  • Cross-training with other positions to fill in when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in social media, digital marketing and Google Workspace
  • Event planning and project management experience
  • WordPress experience is ideal, but not necessary
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Passion for animal welfare and the mission of Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for events
